I had 2 test ordered. I thought she could have been more specific in explaining the test on what to expect. Example what they are going to be doing during the test. How long is the test going to take. She did not explain things very well. And could get wider chairs for the heavier people.

This appointment was for my mom who is in the early stages of Alzheimer's. It took several months to get into this first appointment, but we were very satisfied with the quality of care she received that day. The information provided to us prior to this appointment from her primary care physician has been a little confusing. We were told my mom would need to take a cognitive test and have an MRI before being able to be placed on medication for Alzheimer's. She took a lengthy cognitive test at the Neuro rehabilitation location on Brown Street in Kettering. We then made the appointment at the neuroscience Institute at MVHS and thought that was to get an MRI. Once there, however, she took a shorter cognitive test and was told she did not need the MRI in order to receive medication. An MRI was scheduled and a fasting lab was ordered. The reason I'm mentioning this is that maybe my mom's primary care physician didn't know my mom likely did not need the first cognitive test. Her physician also didn't know that my mom could start meds prior to imaging being done. Not sure if the neuroscience Institute can relay more accurate protocol to physicians about the steps needed to properly care for a patient with Alzheimer's.

The tele-conference went smoothly but there didn't seem to be a lot of substance to the meeting except to confirm medications. Maybe that's all it was meant to do. ?

Directions posted within the hospital to find room 550 are non existent. Room 500/530 are in a totally different area requiring both a serious walk distance, and questioning an office clerk to tell me how to get to 550. And easy one to solve - add 550 to the signage a both end of the hospital. This was a considerable irritant.
