Alison Bales, MD, is a graduate of Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton, OH. She completed her residency in General Surgery at Indiana University in Indianapolis, IN were she went on to complete a fellowship in Surgical Critical Care. Dr. Bales is board certified in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care by the American Board of Surgery.
A dedicated educator and leader, Dr. Bales specializes in the mentorship of medical students and residents. She serves as an Assistant Professor of Surgery, Assistant Medical Student Clerkship Director, and Director of Trauma Outreach at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. <a href='https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/?term=%22alison+bales%22&sort=date&sort_order=desc' target='_blank'>Read her publications</a>.
She is an Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society Member and has been awarded with Distinguished Scholar Award for Medical Students. She is a member of American College of Surgeons, Association of Women Surgeons, Association of Surgical Education, and The Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma.
Dr. Bales is a trauma surgeon and emergency general surgeon providing critical surgical care for a wide spectrum of conditions, including hernia, gallbladder disease, and bowel disorders, as well as complex skin and soft tissue infections and traumatic injuries. Her procedural expertise includes hernia repair, cholecystectomy, appendectomy, bowel resection, and comprehensive management of emergency surgical needs.
Prior to her medical career, Dr. Bales played professional and collegiate basketball at Duke University, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts.
