About The Provider

Andrew Sloan, MD, FACS is a nationally recognized neurosurgical oncologist with a passion for innovation and personalized patient care. Dr. Sloan went on to complete a fellowship in neurosurgical oncology at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. Dr. Sloan specializes in treating tumors of the brain and spine, including glioblastomas, gliomas, astrocytomas, pituitary adenomas, and metastatic tumors. He uses advanced treatment techniques, utilizing minimally invasive approaches, robotic surgery, laser interstitial thermotherapy (LITT), craniotomy, and stereotactic radiosurgery. His innovative approach extends to therapies such as immunotherapy, cellular therapy, and viral therapy, as well as convection-enhanced delivery (CED) and therapeutic ultrasound.

His care philosophy centers on a multidisciplinary approach, working with a team of specialists to create a personalized, individualized care plan for each patient. He is dedicated to providing the best possible treatment options, and his deep commitment to his patients is reflected in his motto: he treats every patient as if they were a member of his own family. Dr. Sloan has always been fascinated by both neuroscience and cancer and developing better ways to understand and treat both brain disease and cancer. He chose neurosurgical oncology because it satisfied his curiosity in both areas and allows him to make a difference in the treatment of his patients.

His dedication to advancing the field is evident in his extensive list of academic publications, which can be viewed here. He has been widely recognized for his contributions, earning honors such as "Top Doctor" by Castle Connolly since 2004, the Mahaley Award for Clinical Research by the National Brain Tumor Foundation in 2013 and 2025, and the Neuro-Oncology Award by the Congress of Neurological Surgeons in 2016. It is just a long way for me to come for an office appointment or an MRI. I work at JTDMH in St. Marys OH and they have an MRI, but the doctor doesn't like me to have the MRI done there. That is the problem when the healthcare centers don't talk to each other.

During the appointment I did not get enough information to ask any questions or make an informed decision that I was being asked to make, therefore, my decision of two options (wait vs radiation) was to wait. Now that I've had a chance to process the little I was told, and do some research, I have a lot of questions that may or may not change my decision.
