About The Provider
Casey Walk, MD, MS, is a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon specializing in the surgical treatment of complex heart conditions. He earned his medical degree from the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton, OH, where he also completed his residency in General Surgery. He later completed a fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery at The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH, as well as a Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at The Ohio State University in 2024. Dr. Walk is board certified in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care by the American Board of Surgery.
Dr. Walk has special interests in cardiac surgery, arrhythmia surgery, heart failure, mechanical circulatory support, and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). He treats a wide range of cardiovascular conditions, including coronary artery disease, heart failure, atrial fibrillation (A-Fib), valvular heart disease, cardiogenic shock, and aortic disease. His expertise includes procedures such as coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), aortic, mitral, and tricuspid valve repair or replacement, transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), aortic aneurysm surgery, the MAZE procedure, ECMO, Impella support, and other forms of mechanical circulatory support.
Dr. Walk's approach to patient care is rooted in collaboration. He works closely with multidisciplinary care teams, patients, and their families to ensure they understand their condition and available treatment options. Together, they develop a personalized plan focused on achieving the safest and most effective outcome. Guided by the philosophy, “Do the most good,” Dr. Walk considers it both a privilege and a responsibility to care for patients during some of the most critical moments of their lives.
His interest in cardiac surgery developed during his general surgery residency, where he was drawn to the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patients facing serious heart conditions. He finds the greatest reward in seeing patients recover from major heart surgery, return to their families, and regain the ability to enjoy their daily lives.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Walk has contributed to medical research and education through published scholarly work and professional involvement. He is a member of The Society of Thoracic Surgeons and has been recognized with several honors, including the Wright State University Outstanding Resident Teaching Award (2020), the Bizorgi Scholarship for Excellence in Cardiovascular Surgery (2023), and The Ohio State University Fellow Teacher of the Year Award (2026).
A Dayton native, Dr. Walk and his wife both attended the University of Dayton and are proud to return to the community they call home. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, staying active outdoors, and cheering for the Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals, and The Ohio State Buckeyes.
