About The Provider

Francis Speranza, MD, is a graduate of Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton, OH. He completed his residency in General Surgery and a subsequent fellowship in Surgical Critical Care at the same institution. Dr. Speranza is board certified in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care by the American Board of Surgery. He is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine.

Dr. Speranza specializes in Trauma Surgery, Emergency General Surgery, Robotic Surgery, and Surgical Critical Care. Dr. Speranza provides comprehensive surgical treatment for a broad spectrum of conditions, including traumatic injuries, bowel obstructions, colon cancer, skin and soft tissue lesions, and conditions like gallbladder disease and groin and abdominal wall hernias. His procedures often utilize advanced, minimally invasive techniques such as laparoscopic and robotic cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal) and robotic hernia repairs. He also performs critical care procedures like bowel resections, tracheostomy, and feeding tube placement.

His philosophy of care is deeply rooted in individualized attention and communication. Dr. Speranza approaches each patient as an individual and strives to ensure they fully understand their condition and the operation required. His goal is for every patient to feel valued, knowing their concerns have been heard and addressed. He chose Trauma/Acute Care Surgery and Surgical Critical Care due to the necessary variety of conditions and the challenge of caring for patients during the most critical moments of their lives, appreciating the essential teamwork required in both the operating room and the Intensive Care Unit.
