Harminder Grewal, MD

Harminder Grewal, MD, MBBS, FAAFP, is a graduate of Maulana Azad Medical College, University of Delhi, in Delhi, India. She completed her residency in Family Medicine at The Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus, OH. She went on to complete the Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine program and its Executive Leadership in Health Care track at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Grewal is board certified in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) and Integrative Medicine by the American Board of Integrative Medicine (ABOIM).

Dr. Grewal is a dedicated family medicine physician with a whole-person approach to care. She specializes in integrative and functional medicine, with a strong focus on women's health, whole health, and biofeedback. She provides the full spectrum of family medicine, from managing chronic conditions like hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease to addressing common concerns such as anxiety, depression, hypothyroidism, and asthma. Dr. Grewal offers specialized care for menstrual disorders, menopause, and contraception, in addition to routine preventive care, physicals, gynecological examinations, and dermatological procedures.

Dr. Grewal's practice is founded on the Whole-Person Care Model, a comprehensive and collaborative approach to health and well-being guided by the following core principles:

• The patient and practitioner are partners in the healing process.
• All factors that influence health, wellness, and disease are taken into consideration, including mind, spirit, and community, as well as the body.

Dr. Grewal began her medical career with training in Obstetrics & Gynecology in India, completing her Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynecology from the University of Delhi. She further broadened her expertise in the United Kingdom, where she trained in both Obstetrics & Gynecology and Pediatric Medicine / Pediatric Surgery.

Her desire to offer Whole-Person Care, ensure continuity, and build long-lasting relationships with patients led her to the field of Family Medicine. Seeking more tools for effective chronic disease management, Dr. Grewal subsequently pursued training in Integrative Medicine and Functional Medicine. She holds a Certificate in Plant-Based Nutrition from Cornell University, further supporting her focus on preventive health.

She serves as the Whole Health Clinical Lead at Dayton VA Medical Center, demonstrating her commitment to this patient-first philosophy on a systemic level.

Dr. Grewal has a long history in academic medicine. She was instrumental in the inception, development, and ACGME accreditation of the SUNY Upstate Medical University Family Medicine Residency in Syracuse, NY, and later, the Rural Track Program at Auburn Community Hospital in Auburn, NY.

She has served as a Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator on numerous awards, including HRSA, Whole Health Partnership, Subspecialty Innovation Grant, and VA Central Office Educational Grant.

Dr. Grewal is an Academic Chair and Associate Professor of Family Medicine at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. Read her publications. She has been awarded with numerous awards and recognitions including:

She is a member of numerous organizations including the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM), Family Medicine Education Consortium (FMEC), American Medical Association (AMA), Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine (AIHM), Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM), and American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM). 

Dr. Grewal has admitting privileges at Miami Valley Hospital and Dayton VA Medical Center. She is fluent in English, Hindi, and Punjabi.

Outside of her professional life, Dr. Grewal enjoys hiking, reading fiction and nonfiction, listening to music, and being with nature.
