Michael Short, PT is a Physical Therapist in Centerville, OH. He earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy from Ohio University in Athens, OH in 2008. Michael received his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science/Pre-Physical Therapy from the University of Dayton in Dayton, OH in 2004. 

Michael specializes in orthopedic and sports physical therapy. He treats a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, including sprains, strains, and fractures, as well as guiding patients through post-operative recovery for various orthopedic and sports-related surgeries of the knee, shoulder, hip, and ankle. His comprehensive approach utilizes techniques such as dry needling, manual therapy (encompassing myofascial and joint mobilization), instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM), and Kinesio taping to optimize healing and restore function. Furthermore, Michael incorporates targeted injury prevention strategies to help athletes safely return to their activities.

Michael also provides general outpatient physical therapy services, effectively addressing gait dysfunction and generalized weakness through interventions like dry needling, therapeutic exercise, balance and gait training, and postural correction.

Michael's physical therapy journey started after dislocating his shoulder while playing high school football. After his injury, he spent a year and a half in rehab before and after surgery to pursue his goal to get back on the football field. He was able to do this and spent the next four years playing linebacker for the University of Dayton, earning Exercise-science/Pre-Physical Therapy degree. Afterwards, he went on to earn his Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy at Ohio University.

Michael has spent the last 17 years practicing outpatient orthopedics, home health and post-acute rehab. Just when his hair stopped growing, his family started growing.  He has a beautiful wife, son and daughter, in addition to three step-daughters who are all growing so fast. He is optimistic to move forward in the second half of my career.
