Phillip Heyse, MD, FACS, is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in Cincinnati, OH. He completed his residency in General Surgery at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton, OH. Dr. Heyse is board certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery. He has been awarded with Dayton Magazine's Dayton's Best Docs 2023 and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Heyse is a dedicated general surgeon with a particular interest on improving the lives of patients requiring dialysis access. He provides comprehensive surgical care for individuals with chronic kidney disease, end-stage renal disease (ESRD), and dialysis access needs alongside a broad range of acute care surgical conditions. As a general surgeon, he performs procedures such as arteriovenous fistula creation, peritoneal dialysis catheter placement, laparoscopic-assisted VP shunt placement, appendectomy, bowel resection, and hernia repair.
Dr. Heyse's philosophy of care is rooted in a down-to-earth and pragmatic approach, prioritizing the individual patient's well-being and experience over solely focusing on the disease itself.
Outside of his professional career, Dr. Heyse enjoys spending time with his wife and children and finds creative fulfillment in music production.

I was very happy with the level of care I received from Dr. Heyse and his team. He is very thorough. My surgery was an emergency procedure and he took the time to explain everything to my husband and I. I will say that I was not very happy with the hospital stay. Having said that I highly recommend Dr. Heyse. My follow-up visit was positive as well.

Heyse listened carefully & respectfully to my objections to beginning dialysis immediately. He showed no surprise or disgust when I said I am studying conservative kidney care management. He offered good info without pressure or shaming comments. I certainly feel free to contact him again if/when I am ready for dialysis.
