Rio L. Harrelson, PT

Rio Harrelson, PT is a physical therapist in Middletown, OH. She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of Dayton in Dayton, OH in 2024.  Rio received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from George Mason University in Fairfax, VA in 2021. 

Rio specializes in pelvic health physical therapy and treats patients with urinary incontinence, pelvic pain, constipation, endometriosis, pelvic organ prolapse, and post-proctectomy. Techniques and treatments may include pelvic floor strength/neuromuscular training, bladder retraining, toileting techniques, behavior modification, biofeedback, and internal/external manual therapy techniques.

Rio specializes in orthopedic physical therapy and treats patients who are post-operative surgery. Techniques and treatments may include therapeutic exercise, myofascial or joint mobilization, and manual therapy.

Rio became a physical therapist after a family member required extensive therapy from different specialties after a surgery. She was especially interested in pelvic floor therapy which is the specialty she chose to pursue  following physical therapy school. She has collaborated on a project presented at CSM for pelvic floor therapy winning an award with her group for this project observing the effects of Transversus Abdominis tension on diastasis recti rehabilitation specifically in the postpartum population. After graduating physical therapy school she has begun completing pelvic floor therapy courses working towards a board certification in the future. She has also completed clinical rotations in acute care, pediatrics, and general outpatient orthopedics and currently is completing a mix of orthopedic and pelvic floor cases.
