About Urmee Siraj
About The Provider
Urmee Siraj, MD is a board‑certified gastroenterologist providing comprehensive inpatient and outpatient digestive care in the Dayton area. She earned her medical degree from the University of Dhaka in Bangladesh and completed her internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship at Wright State University School of Medicine in Dayton, OH. She later earned a Master of Health Administration from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health in New York, NY.
Dr. Siraj cares for patients with a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions, including gastroesophageal reflux disease, dysphagia, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, celiac disease, fatty liver disease, and gastrointestinal bleeding. She has a special clinical interest in colon cancer screening, gut health, and preventive gastroenterology. Her procedural expertise includes upper endoscopy, colonoscopy with polyp removal, esophageal dilation, feeding tube placement, control of gastrointestinal bleeding, capsule endoscopy, and esophageal and rectal motility studies.
Her approach to care centers on treating the whole patient—not just the disease. Dr. Siraj emphasizes personalized care, prevention, and clear communication, partnering closely with patients to help them understand their condition and make informed decisions about their health. She was drawn to gastroenterology for its blend of hands‑on procedures, meaningful outcomes, and the opportunity to prevent serious disease through early detection.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Siraj serves on the faculty at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. She is actively involved in professional and community leadership, with interests in health equity, access to care, diversity in the workplace, and women’s health in gastroenterology. She is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association, American College of Gastroenterology, Ohio State Medical Association, and the Bangladesh Medical Association of North America.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Siraj enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her family.
