Vincent A. Bonanno, MD

Vincent Bonanno, MD, MS, is a graduate of the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, NC. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Moses Cone Hospital/University of North Carolina in Greensboro, NC. He went on to complete a fellowship in Aerospace Medicine at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine supported by NASA in Dayton, OH. Dr. Bonanno is board certified in Internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. 

As a dedicated primary care physician, Dr. Bonanno treats a wide spectrum of adult medical conditions. His expertise covers common chronic illnesses and acute issues, including:

• Cardiovascular & Metabolic: High blood pressure (hypertension), high cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia), and diabetes.
• Mental & General Health: Depression and anxiety, migraines, anemia, allergies, thyroid issues, and infections.

Dr. Bonanno's services include physical exams, sports physicals, and medication management.

Dr. Bonanno believes that right now is the best time be a physician, given the incredible advancements in available care. He points out that since he was in medical school, medical science has advanced so much that doctors can do things that once seemed like science fiction. These big leaps in medicine mean there are now many more options for patients. Dr. Bonanno's goal is to work with each patient to choose the best new treatments, making sure the approach is customized to their personal needs. For example, ten patients with high blood pressure could end up with ten different but equally effective treatment plans that they helped decide on. That collaborative, personalized care is his main focus.

Dr. Bonanno was drawn to Internal Medicine (general adult medicine) because of the richness and variety the field offers. He appreciates that he can see a full schedule of patients, each presenting a different medical challenge. He particularly excels at managing patients with multiple illnesses and complex medication lists. Dr. Bonanno approaches this task by carefully tailoring prescriptions so they work together seamlessly, like instruments in an orchestra. For him, a treatment plan is perfect "not when there is nothing else to add, but when there is nothing else to remove."

Dr. Bonanno previously held an academic role as an as an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the combined residency program involving the military and Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine.

His dedication to outstanding patient care is reflected in his numerous honors:

Outside of his professional life, Dr. Bonanno enjoys traveling and spending time with his family and is an amateur astronomer who enjoys observing the heavens with his telescope.
